St Augustine

Believe it or not, it is time to start thinking about the St. Augustine trip.  The link to register is on the CCA website.  If you are hoping to chaperone, please register at your earliest convenience.  The trip will be January 5th and 6th.  Don't miss the most exciting field trip ever!!

Reading Buddies

Today we spent some time reading with Mrs. Fussner's kindergarten class.  It was amazing to watch my mature fourth graders reading to their little buddies.  I see friendships starting already!

Math Centers

Today in class, we were blessed with the opportunity to practice our math skills through the center games, which are part of our new math program.  Don't forget to check out the videos and activities available through the Pearson Math website.

Accelerated Reader Program

Today in the Thursday folders, you will find your child's STAR reading test, as well as the AR goal for the 1st quarter.  We have been to the media center and are now able to check out 4 books!  I would love for students to have an AR book in their desk at all times, so that when they finish an assignment, they can work towards their goal.  Please encourage your child to meet his/her goal, and maybe even go beyond that goal. The more they read, the better readers they become!  At the end of every quarter, students that make their goal will be rewarded with a celebration.  I want EVERYONE to be part of that celebration!

Bible Study Habit Sheets/Math Curriculum

Bible study habit sheets went home in the homework 
folders today.  This is an opportunity for your child to create/increase a habit of doing a devotion daily. After reading a Bible verse or devotion of their choice, students will log the verse onto their study habit sheet and explain what God showed them through that verse.  Only one verse should be listed each day. There are 20 days to fill in on the sheet, and it is not due until September 30th.  Enjoy God's Word!!

 

Today, we went into the computer labs and took a placement test on IPASS.  Students are able to log on from home and work on the individual needs that they have in the area of math.  Please take advantage of this amazing tool.  I have added the Link to IPASS under "Student Links" on this blog.

Also, I added the new Pearson Math program website to "Students Links."  You will be amazed at the resources available to your child from home.  Your child's username and passwords will be coming home in the Thursday folders this week.

Chapel

Parents- You are welcome to join us for chapel on Fridays from 2:10-2:50.  We would love to have you!  

Also, please keep in mind that chapel is a priority, so students will not be sent out for early dismissal on Friday afternoons after 2:10 unless it is an emergency.  When needing to remove your child from school early on Fridays, please keep this mind, and be sure to pick him/her up before the start of chapel at 2:10.  Thank you for helping us guard what is very well the most important hour of our school week!

Supplies

Parents, 

Please send in a smock for Art class.  Old large t-shirts work best.  Please label your child's name inside.

If you have not sent in the wallet size picture of your child or a folder with the 3 prongs in the middle for Spanish class, please do so.

Also, some of the book covers that were brought in were too small for the textbooks we need to cover.  If at all possible, please purchase the jumbo size book covers.  If it is a hardship on your family, please let me know and I will make sure it is taken care of.

The First Day of School

Of course, we went over all the rules and procedures so that we can glorify God daily with our behavior and diligence.  

We made it through the first day!

Class Preview Day

What a beautiful class!

 It was such a blessing getting to meet each and every one of you today!  I'm sorry that I missed a couple of you, but I'll be sure to add you to our blog on our first day of school.  Have a wonderful day tomorrow. I can't wait to see you bright and early Wednesday morning!
